Man Cries Out After Finding Out Caretaker Inflated N500K rent to N1.3M For Three Years

A Nigerian man has taken to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to expose a shocking discovery involving the caretaker of his residential building. According to the user, identified as @Drweloveu , tenants in his building have unknowingly been paying ₦1.3 million annually as rent, when the actual amount fixed by the landlord is ₦500,000 . The revelation came to light after the landlord paid an unannounced visit to the property. During casual conversations with the tenants, he reportedly mentioned the true cost of the apartments, which left the residents stunned and outraged. “So apparently, the caretaker of our house has been collecting ₦1.3m per annum from tenants while the actual rent is ₦500k. The owner came around and casually said this house is cheap for just ₦500k. And the rest is history,” the tenant wrote. This means the caretaker has allegedly been pocketing a whopping ₦800,000 per tenant each year, without the landlord's knowledge — a scam running into mill...

Final Year Akwa Ibom Poly Student Slumps And D!es During Karate Training

John Akpan, a final-year student of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, has died under sudden and heartbreaking circumstances during a karate training session on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Akpan, who was pursuing his Higher National Diploma in the Department of Mass Communication, reportedly left his off-campus lodge for his usual Saturday karate practice when the incident occurred. A source close to the Polytechnic community told PUNCH that the student collapsed immediately upon entering the pitch.

He was rushed to a private hospital in Ikot Ekpene, where he was referred to the General Hospital. Sadly, upon arrival, doctors pronounced him dead.

According to the President of the Journalism and Media Studies Students Association, Mr. Nsoefen Mark Akpan, who witnessed the events unfold, some students struggled to accept the hospital’s verdict and took John to a church for prayers, but their request was declined.

A spiritualist later claimed he could revive the young man, but after unsuccessful attempts, he declared that John had already been "admitted into the spirit world." The students then took his body to the mortuary.

“The corpse was returned to the mortuary, but many students still held on to hope, waiting to see if our colleague would come back,” Akpan shared.

The Head of Department, Dr. Inemesit Umore, visited the hospital to calm the agitated students and ensured proper communication with the deceased’s family.

John was said to have shown no signs of illness prior to the incident and had written an exam just two days earlier. He was also known to be the coordinator of the karate training sessions held every Saturday.

The Polytechnic community is now mourning the loss of one of its own — a dedicated student, leader, and friend.

VIDEO: Jesus hates poor people, never visited them – Pastor David Ibiyeomie

Pastor Ibiyeomie Sparks Controversy with Comments on Poverty and Christianity Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has ignited widespread debate following a recent sermon in which he claimed that Jesus Christ disliked poverty and intentionally distanced himself from the poor during his time on earth. Addressing his congregation, Pastor Ibiyeomie asserted that Jesus' mission extended beyond spiritual salvation to include financial prosperity for believers. He argued that poverty is fundamentally at odds with the true message of Christ. “Jesus never visited any poor person in their home; check your Bible,” Ibiyeomie declared. “That means he hates poverty. He visited Lazarus, who wasn’t poor—they were feeding him. He visited a sinner, Zacchaeus, who was rich. Show me one poor man Jesus entered his house.” He further claimed that remaining in poverty is contrary to Christian doctrine. “Jesus hates people who are poor. He died so you wouldn't be poor. It’s f...

The Achimota Circuit Court has sentenced a 22-year-old hairdresser, Nicky Isabella, popularly known as Bella, to five years in prison for human trafficking. Isabella was found guilty of luring two young Nigerian women into Ghana under the false promise of employment, only to force them into prostitution upon arrival. The victims, aged 22 and 23, were deceived with offers of supermarket jobs in Adjiringanor, Accra. However, when they arrived in May 2024, Isabella confiscated their earnings and coerced them into sex work. She reportedly forced them to swear an oath on a Bible, cut pieces of their pubic hair, and threatened to use the hair in rituals if they disobeyed her instructions. According to prosecutors, Isabella acted alongside an accomplice identified only as Nelly, who remains at large. The case was tried before Judge Akosua Anokyewaa Adjepong, who delivered the judgment on Friday, April 4, 2025. Assistant Superintendent of Police Isaac Babayi, who led the prosecution, d...
